Loop Federal Building Evacuated Over Bomb Threat

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A federal office building in the Loop has been evacuated as authorities investigate a bomb threat Thursday morning.

Chicago Police said they were notified at 7:15 a.m. that an unknown male phoned in the threat at the Kluczynski Federal Building at 230 S. Dearborn St.

Officials evacuated the building while U.S. Marshals and the Federal Protective Service investigate the threat.

CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports police cordoned off the entire building with yellow tape at one point, while police and bomb-sniffing dogs conducted a search.

Employees at the building were told in an email the Kluczynski Building was being evacuated "because of a credible threat to the facility. All General Services Administration Employees are advised to calmly leave the facility and report to your normal mobile work location."

The building later was closed for the rest of the day.

No injuries have been reported.
