CHICAGO (CBS) -- Scott Johnson is bringing those days back.

Johnson, the Illinois High School Association executive director, is behind an ambitious project to upload Illinois high school sports highlights on You Tube.

Johnson is dusting off old videotapes. There are currently about 100 videos on the site, ranging from football to chess championships.

In a few months, Johnson tells DNA Info, video of some of the most legendary basketball teams, such as the King High School boys squads of the 1990s, will be added.

Another legendary team, the undefeated 1981 Quincy squad is already featured.

Track and field fans will certainly enjoy the 1973 footage of Craig Virgin, running totally alone, in his quest to break Steve Prefontaine's high school 2-mile record. (He missed it by just over a second.)

The dominant girls volleyball squads of Mother McAuley--almost too many to count--fill much of the volleyball playlist on the site.

Some of the most fascinating clips of all come from Oak Park River-Forest High school ... in 1928!

A girls track meet:
