United Center Will Host 2016 NCAA Tournament's Midwest Regional

(CBS) Big-time postseason college basketball is coming back to Chicago.

The United Center will host the 2016 Midwest Regional of the men's basketball NCAA Tournament, the NCAA announced Monday. The Sweet 16 games will be played on that Friday, March 25, while the regional final will be held that Sunday, March 27.

Philadelphia, Louisville and Anaheim will host the other three regionals in 2016. The Final Four will be held in Houston.

Brooklyn and Des Moines will be first-time hosts in 2016 for the first and second rounds. They'll be joined by Providence, St. Louis, Raleigh, Oklahoma City, Denver and Spokane as early round hosts.

2016 will mark the first time that an NCAA Tournament regional has been contested in the Chicago area since 2005, when Illinois memorably rallied to top Arizona at Allstate Arena in Rosemont. The United Center hosted first- and second-round games in 2011.
