Blackhawks Recall Nordstrom, Clendening From Rockford
(CBS) The Blackhawks have recalled forward Joakim Nordstrom and defenseman Adam Clendening from AHL Rockford, they announced late Tuesday afternoon.
The 22-year-old Nordstrom made his first appearance of the season in Chicago's 6-2 win against Dallas on Sunday night before some roster shuffling -- presumably for salary cap purposes -- sent him down and led to this call-up. He'd previously scored eight points in 14 games this season with Rockford.
The 22-year-old Clendening received a promotion in the aftermath of rookie defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk suffering a lower-body injury in Sunday's win that figures to keep him out for several months. van Riemsdyk has since been placed on the long-term injured reserve list.
Clendening has four points in 16 games this season with Rockford. He has yet to appear in a regular-season NHL game.
Chicago next plays Thursday at Calgary.
