Slain Journalist James Foley Remembered At Northwestern Service

(CBS) -- Northwestern University remembered one of its own Thursday, as friends and loved ones gathered to recall the life of slain journalist James Foley.

Several hundred people gathered in a chapel on campus to remember Foley, one of the journalists beheaded by Islamic extremists in Syria.

Foley's family said it was hard returning to Chicago. It was his mother Diane Foley's first time visiting her son's alma mater, the Medill School of Journalism. But she says she did it for her son his legacy.

Foley's mother called on journalists to continue telling the stories he so loved to tell.

James Foley will receive the Medill Medal for Courage on Dec. 3.
