White Sox Make 7 Minor Roster Moves

(CBS) The White Sox have made seven minor roster moves, they announced Thursday afternoon, and their 40-man roster now is full at 40.

Most notable was that Chicago has designated reliever Ronald Belisario for assignment after a season in which he went 4-8 with a 5.56 ERA in 62 appearances.

The White Sox purchased the contracts of right-hander Frankie Montas, infielder Rangel Ravelo, infielder Tyler Saladino and catcher Kevan Smith.

They also outright outfielder Jared Mitchell to Triple-A Charlotte and claimed left-hander Onelki Garcia off waivers from the Dodgers.

Acquired from the Red Sox in July 2013, the 21-year-old Montas is the White Sox's fifth-best prospect in the organization, according to Baseball America. He was a combined 5-0 with a 1.44 ERA in 15 starts split between the Arizona League White Sox, Single-A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham last season.

The 22-year-old Ravelo hit .309 with 11 homers and 66 RBis in 133 games for Birmingham last season and is the organization's No. 10 prospect.

The 25-year-old Saladino hit .310 with nine homers and 43 RBIs last season in 82 games with Charlotte.

The 26-year-old Smith spent the entire 2014 season with Birmingham, hitting .290 with 10 homers and 48 RBIs in 106 games. He threw out 33 percent of attempted base-stealers.
