Forget Door-Busters; This Crowd Wanted Special Brew On Black Friday

(CBS) -- Even though a lot of stores did not see that mad rush of shoppers on Black Friday, people were willing to line up at one location for a hot item.

The highly sought prize at one Binny's Beverage Depot on the Northwest Side was beer — specifically, Bourbon County, a special brew.

Jerome Dinnison drove from Michigan to get his, and got in line well in advance to stake his claim.

Dinnison says the wait was worth every second.

"I mean, I want to drink these right away, but I'll probably hold off, maybe wait 'til Christmas or New Year's or something," Dinnison said.

Brett Porter and Mike Siegel led the team behind the beer.

"We don't take it for granted," Siegel said. "We walk the line and talk to a good percentage of the people and just say thanks, and I hope you enjoy the beer."

It's estimated more than 800 people lined up just at that one Binny's location for the beer. More than 1,000 people are believed to have stood in line for the special brew across the city.
