Levine: Kenny Williams Admits He Has Considered Leaving White Sox

(CBS) -- White Sox executive Kenny Williams confirmed a report that among different options, resigning from his present position as executive vice president of the team is one of them.
A story by ESPN's Buster Olney said that the Blue Jays were interested in Williams for their top executive position. Later, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported that Williams was considering resigning his position with the White Sox.
Williams confirmed the news to 670 The Score.
"It's being reported that I am considering resigning," Williams said. "I said when asked that in a situation like this, one has to re-evaluate everything, take stock and look at all options. I would be lying if I didn't say that (resigning) was one of them. I am here (San Diego) focused on helping to make the White Sox the best possible team we can."
White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf told me in response to Williams' statement, "My response is I don't comment on rumors."
A former Sox player, Williams has worked for the White Sox since 1995. He was the farm director of the team before taking over as general manager in 2002. Williams helped direct the team to their first World Series title in 88 years in 2005. Williams was kicked upstairs to executive VP of the team when Rick Hahn was promoted to the general manager position in 2013. Williams was instrumental in the scouting and signing of 2014 AL Rookie of the Year Jose Abreu.
