DEA Agent Struck By Suspect's Car On SW SIde
(CBS) -- A DEA agent suffered serious injuries during an undercover investigation in the Ashburn neighborhood Sunday.
It happened at around 1 p.m. at 82nd and Kedzie. Chicago Police officers said they got a call about shots fired and arrived to find DEA agents already on the scene. At least one person is in custody.
The DEA confirms that DEA officers engaged in a traffic stop in a car believed to be carrying cocaine. As the officers were attempting to take the suspect into custody, the suspect took off and hit a DEA agent who was on foot with his car.
The DEA agent was taken to Christ Hospital for head injuries and a broken leg. Shots were fired during the incident and a suspect was hospitalized.
Police located the car in the 7300 block of Oakley, about a mile and a half away. That car was found to have drugs inside.
