CHICAGO (CBS) — A woman who works in the cafeteria of a Southeast Side hospital visited her company’s children’s hospital Monday morning and brought with her hundreds of toys.
It’s the seventh year in a row that Jessie Tendayi has done it.
She brought with her about 500 toys for boys and girls of all ages at Advocate Children’s Hospital. She’ll do the same thing at Lutheran General Hospital. She says she doesn’t have any children of her own but that “God has called me to be the mother of so many children”.
Tendayi is from Zimbabwe. She saves her money every year with a credit union account so that she can buy toys for hospitalized children. She figures she has spent more than $4,000 this year.
