Wolves Fall To Wild

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Defenseman Mathieu Brodeur scored for the Wolves (14-11-3-0), who get a rematch with the Wild at 3 p.m. Sunday in Iowa.

"I hope our desperation level (changes) more than anything," said Wolves head coach John Anderson. "We were embarrassed at home and now we have a chance to do the same thing right back to them, so we better do it."

Iowa (9-17-1-1) opened the scoring at 8:39 of the first period as center Brett Sutter won a faceoff and headed toward the goal to redirect defenseman Danny Syvret's wrist shot launched from just above the left circle.

The Wild made it 2-0 at 11:51 of the first when Gregoire crashed the crease and kicked in Michael Keranen's centering pass from along the left boards.

Iowa pushed its margin to 3-0 at 5:53 of the second period on Graovac's first goal. Wolves goaltender Matt Climie saved Marc Hagel's shot from the left point with the tip of his glove and tried to knock the puck into the corner, but Graovac pounced on the loose puck and flipped it home.

The Wolves jumped on the board at 13:19 on Brodeur's blast from the high slot that sliced through traffic and Iowa goaltender Johan Gustafsson. Ty Rattie and Jeremy Welsh earned assists on Brodeur's third goal of the season.

Gregoire notched his second of the night at 17:43 of the second period to give Iowa a 4-1 lead. Climie saved Zack Phillips' shot from the right faceoff circle, but Gregoire anticipated the rebound toward the left circle and knocked it home.

Graovac picked up his second goal at 11:57 of the third when his shot from close range tipped off a Chicago stick, floated over everyone's head and into the net for a 5-1 advantage.

Gustaffson (5-10-1) posted 24 saves to earn the win. Climie (7-7-2) stopped 27 shots.

The Wolves return to Allstate Arena at 7 p.m. Monday to face the Grand Rapids Griffins. To take advantage of the holiday season's best special – the Howliday Gift Pack that includes 10 tickets, a puck, a scarf, a beanie and a Gameworks play card – call 1-800-THE-WOLVES or visit ChicagoWolves.com.
