Clarendon Hills Police Searching For Man Who Injured Officer

(CBS) -- Clarendon police say the man was driving an older model tan Toyota Camry. They say he was in a parking lot when he was approached by a police officer and asked for ID.

There was a scuffle, and as the man drove off, he hit the officer with the open driver's side door, knocking the officer to the ground.

Clarendon Hills Police Sergeant Ed Leinweber says it shows there is no such thing as a routine call.

"You never really know what is going on when you approach somebody, but to have this kind of situation come about is not what you are expecting," Sgt. Leinweber said.

The officer suffered some cracked ribs but should be ok. Anyone with information is asked to call Clarendon Hills police at (630) 286-5460.
