Man Charged With New Year's Day Shooting At West Side Nightclub

(STMW) -- A man has been charged with shooting another man early New Year's Day at a nightclub in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

John Jackson, 31, faces one count of aggravated battery with the discharge of a firearm and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm into an occupied building, both felonies, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

Jackson was identified as the man who opened fire outside the club about 3:10 a.m. Thursday in the 3900 block of West Chicago, police said.

Jackson and a 33-year-old man got into an argument inside the club and when Jackson was thrown out, he pulled out a gun and fired several shots into the building, police said.

The man was shot in the left foot and taken in good condition to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, police said.

According to a police report, Jackson and several other people ran to a waiting, four-door grey car, which sped away after the shooting.

Jackson, of the 400 block of North Hamlin, was scheduled to appear in bond court Sunday, police said.
