Despite Frigid Temps, Some People Still Need To Work Outside

(CBS) -- Some people have no choice, but to be out in the cold. They have to work in this bitter blast.

CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports Nicole Tomes' job as a carhop at SuperDawg gets a little challenging on bitter cold nights like these.

'Today I've been not super busy but busier than you'd expect," she said.

Superdawg customer Elizabeth Jones says she does feel a little bit guilty but it is, "extremely convenient>'

Tomes says customers usually do tip better.
"Do they tip....do tip better."

Tomes' been a carhop for seven years, through rain, sleet, snow and yes, the freezing cold.

Much like a mail carrier, who has no choice but to forge ahead in these tundra like conditions.

The trick, says valet parker Juan Carlos Ordanz, is to find ways to sneak occasional minutes of warmth. He says they do what they have to do to make a living.
