Naperville Man Pleads Guilty To Stealing More Than $330K In Computer Equipment From Air Base
(CBS) -- A Naperville man most likely faces at least two years in prison for stealing more than $300,000 in computers from the U.S. military, reports WBBM's Steve Miller.
It was in Afghanistan that a U.S. air base where the federal government 51-year-old Timothy Maurer of Naperville stole computers, even breaking a lock to get at some of them. The U.S. Attorney's office says Maurer was working for a Pentagon contractor, Raytheon, last year when he stole more than 150 computers and other electronics on base and then shipped computers to vendors and re-sold them. The equipment was worth more than $332,000.
