Missing Suburban Man Kyle Cuchna Found Safe

(CBS) --A 21-year-old north suburban man who is bipolar and disappeared more than a week ago has been found - safe.

Family and friends of Kyle Cuchna have been searching for him. Putting up fliers.

And late in the evening, his father Paul says he got the good news that his son had been found.

"The tears of joy. Nobody knows what it's like to go through it for eight days."

Paul Cuchna says Kyle is bipolar and apparently off medication.

One of the volunteers, Tina Leigh, lives in Wauconda, and she says she and her boyfriend and son decided to go by a Wauconda homeless shelter to pass out some fliers about Kyle.

And as they were talking to one of the staff, he whispered to her, "He's right behind you."

And sure enough, he was.

"We didn't believe he'd be in Wauconda in a shelter. But we figured let's start here and then hit the other towns where he lives.

"We've got to find this boy, we said. We gotta bring him home tonight. And we did."
