Ravens Hire Marc Trestman As Offensive Coordinator

(CBS) Former Bears coach Marc Trestman has found a new job.

The Ravens have hired Trestman as their new offensive coordinator, they confirmed Tuesday. The position was open after Baltimore offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak was named coach of the Broncos, who had an opening after they mutually parted ways with John Fox, who landed in Chicago.

Trestman was fired by the Bears on Dec. 29 after a 5-11 season. He went 13-19 in his two-year tenure in Chicago.

After being the league's second-highest scoring offense in 2013, the Bears regressed greatly in 2014, finishing 23rd in the NFL in points per game. Trestman's defenses also submitted back-to-back historically bad seasons while he was in Chicago.

This will be Trestman's fifth job as an offensive coordinator in the NFL. Previously, he held the position with the Browns (1988-'89), 49ers (1995-'96), Cardinals (1998-'00) and Raiders (2001-'03).

The Ravens have advanced to the playoffs in six of the past seven seasons.
