Two Men Charged With West Side Drive-By Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men have been charged in connection with a drive-by shooting Sunday night in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

A 23-year-old man was standing outside about 8:15 p.m. in the 3100 block of West Polk Street when a Jeep Grand Cherokee drove by and someone inside opened fire, police said.

The victim was shot in the right foot and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.

Officers on patrol saw the shooting, chased the Jeep as it drove away and arrested its occupants--Anthony Dewayne Harris and Joshua Anthony Almore, both 22--after it hit an iron fence, police said.

Both men were charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and armed robbery with a firearm, police said.

Almore, of the 9300 block of South Ada, was also charged with unlawful transport of a stolen vehicle, driving without a license and a traffic signal violation, police said. Harris, of the 1600 block of South Komensky, was also charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle.

Both men were expected to appear in bond court Tuesday.
