Bears Hire 2 More Assistant Coaches

(CBS) The Bears have added two more assistant coaches to their new staff.

Chicago has hired Dowell Loggains as its quarterbacks coach and Glenn Pires as its linebackers coach, the team announced Friday evening.

Loggains has seven seasons of NFL coaching experience and most recently worked as the quarterbacks coach for the Browns in 2014.  Cleveland fired him about two weeks ago.

From 2008-'13, Loggains coached for the Titans, including as offensive coordinator for the final five games of 2012 and the entire 2013 season.

The hiring of Loggains doesn't come as a surprise, as he has a personal relationship with Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, as detailed in this 2012 story from ESPN.com. Cutler reportedly wanted the Bears to hire Loggains in January 2012 when they had an open position, but the Titans denied Loggains the opportunity to interview.

Pires has 19 years of NFL coaching experience and 30 altogether when including the collegiate ranks. For the past seven years, he's been the linebackers coach for the Falcons.

Pires has also previously worked for the Dolphins, Lions and Cardinals. In his coaching tenure, 24 of 30 years have been spent coaching linebackers.

Under the direction of new coach John Fox, Chicago still needs to hire a defensive line coach, a wide receivers coach and a running backs coach.
