Tiger Woods Shoots Worst Ever 82, Joins Hackers Everywhere

CHICAGO (CBS) -- If Tiger Woods played TPC every day like he did on Friday, he would be a 6 handicap.
The greatest golfer in a generation would be no better than some of the above average weekend players at the municipal course.
At the Waste Management Phoenix Open in Scotsdale, Ariz., Woods struggled even more on Friday than he did on Thursday, shooting 82, the highest score of his pro career, which included a 44 on his first nine holes.
Here is how his "handicap" was determined, if one were to assume he played this way all the time.
(He doesn't, obviously, but it's an interesting exercise. This also doesn't take into account how a regular 6 handicap player would fare on the back tees.)
Handicap = Score - (Rating) x 113/Slope
On the championship tees at the TPC Stadium Course in Arizona that would be H = 82 - 74.7 x 113/142.
Handicap = 5.80915493.
Plugging in five rounds of 82 into an online calculator, resulted in a handicap of 5.5.
Then, using that 5.5 figure, another calculation determined that Woods' "course handicap" at TPC would be a 7.
"I've got to keep this in perspective. Sometimes that's hard to do," Woods said after the round.
