1 Killed, 3 Wounded In Friday Gun Violence
(STMW) -- A man was killed and and at least three other people were injured in separate South Side shootings on Friday.
The fatal shooting happened about 5:40 p.m. in West Englewood.
A 34-year-old man was found outside with multiple gunshot wounds in the 7000 block of South Honore, police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:52 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. His name was withheld pending family notification Friday night.
Police said he had documented gang ties.
Less than an hour earlier, a 40-year-old man was critically wounded in an Englewood drive-by attack.
The 40-year-old was in a car with another person about 6:30 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Wells when a white vehicle pulled alongside them and someone inside opened fire, police said. He was shot in the back of the head and the right wrist.
The other person drove him to Saint Bernard Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.
Friday afternoon, a 19-year-old man was shot in Fuller Park. He showed up at Saint Bernard with a gunshot wound to the back that he told investigators he suffered in the 4600 block of South Wentworth. The man--who police said has known gang affiliations--was transferred to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
About 2 p.m., a 41-year-old woman was injured in a Washington Heights neighborhood shooting. She was struck in the arm in the 9400 block of South Ashland and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Police said her condition was stabilized but had no details on the circumstances of the shooting late Friday.
