Two Charged In North Lawndale Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were ordered held on $500,000 bonds Wednesday after being charged with shooting a man several times last week in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

John Potts, 27, and Tremaine Jeter, 22, are each charged with a felony count of aggravated battery with a firearm for the shooting that happened about 10:20 a.m. on Jan. 28 in the 4300 block of West Cermak, police said.

The duo allegedly shot the 54-year-old man three times in the leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.

Police did not provide a motive for the shooting.

Potts, of the 2200 block of South Keeler, and Jeter, of the 2200 block of South Kolin, each had bail set at $500,000, according to police and the Cook County sheriff's office. They are both due back in court Feb. 10.
