Someone You Should Know: Photographer Naja Lerus
(CBS) -- She's a young photographer making a name for herself with beautiful portraits of sleepy, adorable newborns.
Naja Lerus is someone you should know, CBS 2's Harry Porterfield says.
"Such a short time in their lives that they are so tiny and so sleepy, it's something you definitely want to capture," Lerus says.
A photograph of Bulls superstar Derrick Rose and his youngster photographed several years ago was the turning point in her career, which had started as a hobby.
The parade of celebrities and their kids that has followed includes CBS 2's Ryan Baker, whose daughter, Grace, has been photographed by Lerus.
New mother Gina Nicks saw a portfolio of her photographs online.
"I e-mailed her while I was pregnant," she says. "So I could make sure I had a session with her."
Before picking up the camera, Lerus worked at a hotel reservation desk.
"This really turned out to be something I really loved to do. It's truly my passion, and I am so grateful that I can do this every day," she says.
