6 Men Injured In Weekend Shootings In Chicago

(STMW) -- At least six men have been injured in shootings across Chicago since Friday night.

Most recently, a man was shot Saturday night in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood. The 31-year-old was playing a dice game about 11:50 p.m. in the 8900 block of South Ada when he got into a fight with someone and was shot in the leg, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized.

More than an hour earlier, a man was shot in both feet on the Far South Side. The 32-year-old was a backseat passenger in a vehicle in the 13400 block of South Indiana about 10:30 p.m. when someone armed with a gun got out of a light-colored SUV nearby, police said. As the victim tried to get out of the vehicle, the gunman fired shots, striking him in each foot. The driver took the man to Roseland Community Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

Earlier Saturday night, a man was shot during a robbery in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side. The 23-year-old was walking in the 600 block of South Homan about 8:05 p.m. when he was approached by two males, one of whom was armed with a handgun, police said. The pair announced a robbery and while they stole the man's cellphone, a fight broke out and the man was shot in the ankle. The robbers ran away, and the victim was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

About 6:45 p.m. Saturday, a 22-year-old man was shot in Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side. He was walking in the 5000 block of South Wood when someone fired shots from a nearby gangway, police said. He was shot in the leg and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

In the afternoon, a bullet grazed a man's face in Englewood. The 20-year-old was outside in the 6800 block of South Normal about 1:25 p.m. when someone opened fire from a vehicle nearby, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in good condition with a graze wound to the face.

The weekend's first shooting happened late Friday in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side. About 10:30 p.m., a 27-year-old man was getting out of a vehicle in the 1800 block of West Peterson when a gunman walked up and shot him in the back and leg, police said. His condition had stabilized at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston.

Additionally, a man was shot by Chicago Police officers about 2:45 p.m. Saturday after he allegedly tried to run over an officer with an SUV during a traffic stop in the 300 block of West 115th Street on the Far South Side. He was struck in the shoulder and taken to a hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said.
