Report: Las Vegas Squad Wants U.S. Title Stripped From Jackie Robinson West

(CBS) The Las Vegas team that lost to Chicago's Jackie Robinson West squad in the U.S. championship of last August's Little League World Series wants the title stripped following allegations that Jackie Robinson West expanded its boundaries to create a better all-star team, according to a report from DNAinfo.com.

Publicly, Little League International has maintained that it looked into the allegations and found no wrongdoing, but DNAinfo.com's Mark Konkol reported last week that sister leagues of Jackie Robinson West provided new information to Little League officials that supported the notion that wrongdoing had occurred and that the case is still being looked into.

With that knowledge, leaders of the Las Vegas Mountain Ridge team that lost to Jackie Robinson West are calling for the title to be vacated.

"It can't be swept under the rug" if it happened, Las Vegas coach Ashton Cave told DNAinfo.com.

"I'm a firm believer in integrity and that's something we teach our kids … and that's what Little League is designed to do. If we're going to live by it's motto, we need to make things right … and everybody needs to be aware of it. We need to stand up for what's right even if we're standing alone."

As president of Nevada's Mountain Ridge Little League, Kristi Black said she's worried that Jackie Robinson's U.S. title "has an asterisk on it like the one on Barry Bonds home run record."

At a recent meeting, sister leagues of Jackie Robinson West told Little League officials the Chicago District 4 leaders "agreed on 'clearly defined' boundaries in 2013 — the season before Jackie Robinson West leaders secretly expanded their territory to overlap existing leagues," DNAinfo.com reported.
