(CBS) — Things are returning to normal at a Schaumburg jewelry store after a brazen heist Tuesday night, reports WBBM’s John Waelti.

It happened at about 8 p.m. when two males walked into the Jared jewelry store in Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg.

Police say they used hammer-type device to smash display cases and make off with loose diamonds and mounted jewelry.

“No report of any weapons brandished or implied,” said Schaumburg Police Lt. Shawn Green. “The business was open at the time and there were customers there.”

Green says the total value of the stolen jewelry was around $427,000. He says police began the search for suspects immediately after the heist.
