Geneva Woman Involved In Planned Valentine's Day Massacre In Canada: Police

(CBS) – A 23-year-old west suburban Geneva woman is one of three suspects Canadian authorities have arrested in foiling a possible mass-shooting plot on Valentine's Day in Halifax, authorities said.

A fourth individual was found dead.

Police in Halifax, Nova Scotia, say they were alerted Thursday to a "potential significant weapons-related threat" that led them to a 19-year-old Timberlea male and the Geneva woman. The two were believed to have access to firearms.

"It was their intention to go to a public venue in the Halifax region on February 14th with a goal of opening fire to kill citizens, and then themselves," the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement.

Two other males, aged 20 and 17, were also implicated in the potential plot, police said.

On Thursday, police found the 19-year-old suspect dead when they entered a residence. Police later arrested the three other suspects, including the Geneva woman.

West suburban Geneva police say they were contacted by Canadian authorities. They say they have not had prior contact with the female suspect.

Names of the suspects had not been released.
