Autopsy: Man Found Dead In West Chatham Was Beaten To Death

(STMW) -- A man found dead in the West Chatham neighborhood on the South Side late Friday had his neck broken from blunt force trauma, an autopsy found Saturday.

Clevland Head, 31, was found unresponsive on the sidewalk near 87th Street and Holland at 11:55 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Head, of the 9100 block of South Wentworth, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, the medical examiner's office said.

An autopsy Saturday found Head died from cervical dislocation as a result of blunt force trauma to the neck, the medical examiner's office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

Detectives were conducting a death investigation as of early Sunday, police said. No more details were available.
