Wind Chill Advisory Issued For Chicago Area Saturday Evening, Travel Warning For Parts Of Indiana

(CBS) -- The Chicago area is dealing with bitter cold and strong winds this weekend. The entire area is under a Wind Chill Advisory from 8 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday.

The temperature at O'Hare at 11 a.m. was 11 degrees, with winds of 26 miles an hour. Wind chills could get as low as 30 degrees below zero Saturday night.

Parts of Northwest Indiana could see some snow. Porter County and LaPorte County in Indiana and Berrien County in Michigan are under a Winter Storm Warning until 6 a.m. Sunday.

The National Weather Service issued a Blizzard Warning for Starke County until 10 p.m. Saturday. In LaPorte County, a travel warning is in effect until noon Sunday and all travel is for emergency vehicles only.

WBBM's Mike Krauser reports in Michigan City, sand was blowing into the Washington Park Zoo, a quarter of a mile away from Lake Michigan.

Sunday is forecast to remain cold, with a high of 12 degrees and snow showers expected.
