February On Pace To Be 2nd Coldest In Chicago Since 1875

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The month of February has not been this brutally cold in a very, very long time.

In February 1875, the average temperature in Chicago was 14.6 degrees. If predicted temperatures for the rest of the month hold true, the 14.9 degree average this February will have been the second coldest February on record for Chicago.

Delivery truck driver John Jackson said he got spoiled early this winter, when there wasn't any measurable snow in December.

"The problem was I thought everything was going to be over. We seemed like the beginning wasn't that bad, but now it's just kicking our butt," he said.

Meteorological spring begins Sunday, while astronomical spring is still 25 days away.
