Three Killed, Two Wounded In Citywide Shootings

(STMW) -- Three men were killed and two other people were wounded in three shootings on the South and West sides in a four-hour span Wednesday afternoon.

Most recently, a 58-year-old man was shot to death in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said.

About 7:20 p.m., the man was found "prostrate" on the sidewalk in the 11400 block of South Prairie with a gunshot wound to his head, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office could not confirm the fatality Wednesday night.

About 4:30 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in the back in the 11300 block of South Parnell — also in Roseland — police said.

He took himself to Roseland Community Hospital, where he later died, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the death but did not provide further details.

The first shooting of the afternoon occurred about 3:10 p.m. in the Austin neighborhood.

Two men, ages 19 and 23, and a 17-year-old boy were in a vehicle in the 4600 block of West Maypole when they were shot, police said.

The 19-year-old was shot in the arm and back. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he later died, police said.

The teen was shot in the face while the 23-year-old was shot in the arm, police said. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital, but their conditions were not immediately known.

The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the death but did not provide further details Wednesday night.
