Poll: Emanuel Leads Garcia Six Weeks Out From Mayoral Runoff

(CBS) -- The first mayoral runoff poll is out and shows incumbent Rahm Emanuel with an early 10 point lead over Cook County Commissioner Jesus "Chuy" Garcia.

Emanuel was favored by 50 percent of likely voters in an automated phone survey of nearly 2,700 people.

Garcia, meanwhile, trailed at 40 percent, with 10 percent of voters still undecided.

A political action committee affiliated with Emanuel paid for the poll, which was conducted by Global Strategy Group.

A spokesperson for the PAC says the poll shows the election is Emanuel's to lose.

A representative for Garcia says Tuesday's election indicates a majority of voters do not want Emanuel in office for another four years.
