Joakim Noah Produces Anti-Violence Mini-Documentary

(CBS) Bulls big man Joakim Noah has long been an active member in the community, and he's now teamed up to share one of his most powerful messages yet.

Noah worked with author/journalist/documentarian Alex Kotlowitz to produce You're Not Alone, an anti-violence documentary that was released Tuesday. The documentary serves as a forum for people to talk about the emotional effects of gun violence, and Bulls teammates Taj Gibson and Derrick Rose both speak candidly about losing close friends and the ensuing struggles they went through.

Gibson spoke in regards to the 2010 murder of Charles Wynn in Brooklyn and at one point admitted, "I thought about retaliation."

Rose referenced the 2007 death of Stephon Reavley, saying, "I didn't want nobody to feel sorry for me or anything."

You can watch the eight-minute documentary above. You can also read more details about how it came together in this Chicago Tribune article. The documentary is also associated with Noah's foundation, Noah's Arc.

Noah said after Tuesday's win against the Wizards that he wants kids to know it can help to talk about their grief and that others are there for them.

"Everybody needs somebody to talk to," Gibson said.
