Kyle Long Would Rather Remain At Right Guard

(CBS) Perhaps the best asset on the Bears roster is plenty content with his current position.

In two NFL seasons, Chicago offensive lineman Kyle Long is a two-time Pro Bowler at right guard, and that's where he'd like to remain.

"Do I feel like I could play tackle?" Long said during an interview on CSN Chicago on Wednesday. "Absolutely. Do I want to play tackle today? Probably not. I don't know why you'd move me. I'm pretty comfortable at right guard."

Because of the 26-year-old Long's athleticism, some believe his long-term future lies at either right tackle or left tackle, which usually draw the premium offensive line talent because they're matched against often-freakish edge rushers. Long's not buying that is his future, though he'd listen if new coach John Fox broached the idea of a position change.

"Those scouts that you're talking about are the same ones that wrote me off as lazy and immature," Long said. "So to think they have all the answers is incorrect. I'm happy where I am. I love being part of this team. I want to help out however I can. If that's at right guard, if that's at punter, at quarterback, shoot I'll do it to the best of my ability."

The Bears' incumbents at the tackle spots are Jermon Bushrod on the left side and Jordan Mills on the right side. Mills had an uneven 2014 season, and the Bears often kept an extra blocker on his side.
