Bears Re-Sign Jimmy Clausen

(CBS) The Bears may still be making decisions of the fate of incumbent starting quarterback Jay Cutler, but they've made a move at the backup position.

The team is bringing back Jimmy Clausen, signing him to a one-year deal, they announced Friday.

Clausen has a history with Bears coach John Fox. The two worked together in Carolina in 2010, which ended up being Fox's last year with the Panthers. Clausen went 1-9 as a starter that season.

Clausen hadn't started a game since that unsuccessful run in 2010 until Chicago's Week 16 matchup against Detroit last season, which the Bears lost 20-14. Clausen played the entire game but suffered concussion-like symptoms later in the day after a hard hit, which sidelined him for the team's final game of the season in Minnesota.

For his career, the 27-year old Clausen is 1-10 as a starter and has completed 52 percent of his passes for 1,781 yards, five touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a 60.2 passer rating.
