Bears Sign Safety Antrel Rolle

(CBS) The Bears have signed 32-year-old safety Antrel Rolle, they confirmed on Twitter late Wednesday night. The deal is for three years and worth $11.25 million, with $5 million guaranteed, according to reports.

A 10-year veteran, Rolle fills a void on the Bears defense and can fill multiple roles within it, as he's versatile in having played free safety, strong safety and slot corner for the Giants, with whom he spent the past five seasons. Rolle will have the inside track for a starting spot immediately.

While his best years are likely behind him, Rolle's proved to be a playmaker over the years with 26 career interceptions. In 2014, Rolle had 71 tackles for New York.

Rolle was a Pro Bowler in 2008, 2009 and 2013. Rolle and fellow Bears safety Ryan Mundy were teammates with the Giants in 2013.
