Gasoline Prices Rising Again; How High Will They Go?

(CBS) -- Get ready for a roller coaster ride at the gas pumps.

If you filled up after the stock market closed Monday, then you already know  prices are up.

CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports.

Fuel expert Patrick DeHaan of Gasbuddy.com cites three factors for the increase, which amounts to as much as 20 cents per gallon in some areas.

The trifecta includes disruptions at BP's Whiting, Ind. plant and Exxon Mobile's Joliet plant pinching supply and the introduction of the summer blend.

"It's going get uglier. The question is, how much uglier?" DeHaan says of rising gas prices.

Prices could rise additionally between 20 cents to 40 cents over the next few weeks, he said.

Despite a short-term spike, DeHaan says summer gas prices will still be the best they've been since 2010.
