3 Killed, 17 Wounded In Chicago Weekend Gun Violence

(STMW) -Three people were killed and at least 17 others have been wounded in shootings across the city since Friday afternoon.

A woman died Sunday morning after she was shot in the head more than 14 hours earlier in the East Side neighborhood on the Far South Side.

About 7:05 p.m. Saturday, the 23-year-old woman was a passenger in a vehicle near 109th Street and Green Bay Avenue when someone behind the vehicle opened fire, police said.

The woman, identified as Delia Colunga, of the 600 block of East 65th Street, was shot in the head and was taken by the driver to Advocate Trinity Hospital, authorities said.

She was later transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was pronounce dead at 9:53 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Earlier Saturday afternoon, a man was shot to death in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

About 12:30 p.m., officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 8800 block of South Wood found 30-year-old Alexander Colon lying unresponsive on the rear porch of a home, police said.

Colon, who lived on that same block, had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene, the medical examiner's office said.

A police source said he was a documented gang member.

Friday afternoon, a 21-year-old man was killed in a drive-by shooting in the South Chicago neighborhood.

Terrell Foster was standing on the street about 4:30 p.m. in the 8100 block of South Houston when a gray SUV pulled up and someone shot him in the head, according to police and the medical examiner's office.

Foster, who lived a block west in the 8000 block of South Exchange, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner's office.

The most recent nonfatal shooting happened Sunday afternoon in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

A man, 46, was shot in the cheek and leg about 1:20 p.m. in the 700 block of South Kenneth, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

At least 16 other people have been wounded in shootings since 4:50 p.m. Friday, police said.
