Man Shot In Neck Just Off Kennedy Expressway

(CBS) -- A gang-related drive-by shooting just off the Kennedy Expressway closed a busy ramp for three hours during and after the Tuesday evening rush.

The shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. Chicago Police said that the gunman fired from his car into another, striking the 31-year-old victim on the 2900 block of North Sacramento Boulevard, in the Avondale neighborhood.

The car carrying the victim tried to speed off, but came to a stop on the inbound ramp to the Kennedy at Sacramento, where police and paramedics were summoned.

The paramedics stabilized the man before transporting him to Illinois Masonic Hospital. The police investigation forced closure of the Sacramento entrance ramp and adjacent lanes of the Kennedy.

No one is in custody. Chicago Police Area North detectives are investigating.
