Excitement Growing In Chicago For NFL Draft

(CBS) --The Cubs won today, the White Sox home opener is Friday and the Blackhawks and Bulls are heading into the playoffs. In addition, the excitement is growing for the NFL Draft, which is being held right here in Chicago at the end of the month.

CBS 2's Chris Martinez reports under fog-filled skies today that the anticipation is building for what's to come in Grant Park. Cheryl Berchman and her two boys, Lucas and Noah, can hardly wait.

"I think it'll just kinda be cool to have everyone around here, in our city," Berchman said.

It's all around here in our city, as you'll now see the first signs of the upcoming NFL Draft.

The draft itself will take place at Roosevelt University's Auditorium Theatre. But it's just outside in Grant Park where a free, fan-friendly area will take over.

The area is called Draft Town, set up to make fans feel like they're part of the game.

"Just tossin' the ball, targets, and things like that," Berchman said. "900,000 square feet I just read."

As for exactly what that will look like, the NFL won't show us just yet.

"We've never got a chance to do anything like that, so we're kind of looking forward to doing that," Berchman said.

The draft runs from April 30-May 2. For more information, visit www.nfl.com/drafttown.
