Mentally Disabled Man Missing From Northwest Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police are asking for the public's help in finding a mentally disabled man from the Northwest Side who walked away from a therapy class Tuesday morning and hasn't been heard from since.

Paul Hernandez Jr., 47, took a private bus about 7:30 a.m. to Presence Saint Mary Medical Center at 2233 W. Division, but didn't show up to board the bus home after class, according to a missing person alert from Chicago Police.

Hernandez is described as a 5-foot-11, 252-pound Hispanic man with gray hair and some missing teeth. He was last seen wearing a gray or black jacket with black sweatpants and work boots, the alert said.

Hernandez also suffers from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and has been known to walk long distances, the alert said. He knows his home address in the 1300 block of North Ridgeway and has his phone number in his wallet, police said.

Anyone with information should call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8266.
