Friday's latest buzz …

9:00 p.m With their third-round selection, the Bears selected Oregon center Hroniss Grasu. Here's a link to the prospect watch profile that Dan Durkin (@djdurkin) previously wrote about Grasu.

8:45 p.m The Seattle Seahawks traded their fourth, fifth and sixth round selections and swapped third round picks with the Washington Redskins. The Seahawks now have the 69th overall selection.

7:45 p.m -- Eddie Goldman's powerful at the point of attack and effective against the run, writes Dan Durkin. Learn more about Goldman and his fit with the Bears here.

8:04 p.m.The Baltimore Ravens traded the 58th and 158th picks to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for the 55th pick and selected Minnesota TE Maxx Williams.

6:58 p.m. -- The Carolina Panthers traded up to the Rams' pick and selected Michigan receiver Devin Funchess.

6:41 p.m. -- The Bears selected Florida State defensive tackle Eddie Goldman with their second-round pick, at No. 39 overall.

6:12 p.m. -- The second round started with a trade. The Giants sent No. 40 overall (second round), No. 108 overall (fourth round) and No. 245 overall (seventh round) to the Titans for No. 33 overall. New York then selected safety Landon Collins out of Alabama.

4:12 p.m. -- Kevin White joined the Boers and Bernstein Show on Friday to explain why he's so excited to land in Chicago -- and how he dislikes history classes.

3:30 p.m. -- The second round of the draft begins at 6 p.m., with seven minutes between picks. With the Bears holding the seventh pick tonight, they should be on the clock around 6:40 p.m.

2:34 p.m. -- It's likely the Bears will turn their attention to defense tonight after selecting receiver Kevin White in the first round, the Tribune's Dan Wiederer writes.

11:27 a.m. -- How close were the Bears to moving up to No. 2 in a trade with the Titans to draft quarterback Marcus Mariota? Not close at all, MMQB's Peter King reported. "Yes, Chicago expressed some interest — but wasn't banging the Titans' door down — in moving up from seven to two to pick Mariota," King wrote. "However, the Titans had zero interest in Jay Cutler, so that never got off the ground."

10:14 a.m. -- Who are the best available prospects for the second round? Safety Landon Collins and defensive end Randy Gregory are highly touted and worth keeping an eye on for the Bears. Dan Durkin has a list of the top players left.

9:45 a.m. -- Kevin White took to Twitter to express his appreciation for being a new Bear.

9:19 a.m. -- Easy does it for Bears GM Ryan Pace, who kept it simple with his first draft pick, writes Dan Bernstein.

Thursday's latest buzz …

10:42 p.m. -- There are plenty of great options on the board for Chicago at No. 39 overall Friday night. Safety Landon Collins out of Alabama and defensive end Randy Gregory from Nebraska will be two interesting names to watch.

10:15 p.m. -- Read our full story on Kevin White, who says of being drafted by the Bears, "I love it."

9:46 p.m. -- The Bears have announced that Kevin White will wear No. 13 on his jersey.

9:21 p.m. -- White should become a coverage-dictating receiver for the Bears, Dan Durkin writes in his analysis of the selection.

8:42 p.m. -- Chicago general manager Ryan Pace reiterated that the Bears are committed to Jay Cutler as their quarterback this season.

7:53 p.m. -- With the seventh overall pick, the Bears drafted West Virginia receiver Kevin White, who has blazing speed in being clocked in at 4.35 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

7:39 p.m. -- With Washington pulling the surprise move to pick tackle Brandon Scherff, it appears defensive tackle Leonard Williams -- viewed by many as the top talent in the draft -- could fall to the Bears at No. 7. If not, Kevin White will be on the board.

7:17 p.m. -- It appears the Titans are going to keep their No. 2 pick and draft Marcus Mariota. It's quite possible that the reports linked to the Bears were a leverage play by Tennessee.

6:31 p.m. -- Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports what was said earlier, that the Bears are in talks with the Titans. However, Ryan Pace wants to shop quarterback Jay Cutler, and Tennessee isn't interested.

1:50 p.m. -- According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Bears are in discussions with the Tennessee Titans to move up to the No. 2 overall pick and draft Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.

12:57 p.m. -- Bears tight end Martellus Bennett wants a new contract, which has spurred trade rumors, but coach John Fox expects him to remain on the roster.

11:42 a.m. -- Teams have 10 minutes to make picks in the first round. Assuming the Bears stay at No. 7, they should be on the clock around 8 p.m. or shortly thereafter.

10:09 a.m. -- After years of working for this night, opportunity presents itself for Bears general manager Ryan Pace, writes Dan Durkin.

8:53 a.m. -- Bears general manager Ryan Pace doesn't have an attachment to anyone from the old Bears, so don't be surprised by anything he does Thursday night, writes Dan Bernstein.

Wednesday's latest buzz …

1:24 p.m. -- A day before the draft, the Bears are listening to trade offers for Pro Bowl tight end Martellus Bennett, who wants a new contract before he takes the field next season.

12:49 p.m. -- Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel is basking in the national spotlight with the draft in the city. He wants Chicago to become a regular home for the NFL Draft. "My goal is, as I have said from Day 1, is that when Roger (Goodell) and the NFL leave the city, they say 'Why do we not bring this back to the city of Chicago?'" Emanuel said.
