Chicago Is Schocked -- Schocked -- To Find Former Congressman Here

(CBS) – Where is embattled former congressman Aaron Schock?

It turns out, he's right here in Chicago, CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports.

The Republican from Peoria has said he wasn't hiding, though the man who previously loved being seen hasn't been after snowballing scandals. Until this.

There he was Thursday, looking fit and well-dressed, having a long lunch at swanky new seafood joint on Dearborn and Kinzie. A patron dining at an abutting table snapped pictures of Schock as the ex-lawmaker reportedly sipped Arnold Palmers and nibbled on fish.

"I'm shocked," cracks Roosevelt University political scientist Paul Green.

The word is Schock is in town, interviewing for jobs. Green says a grand-jury investigation into questionable spending could hinder the former congressman's efforts. Schock's rising political career came crashing down earlier this year as negative reports mounted.

At the same time, Green says, "We always believe in second chances, sometimes third chances."

Schock, who resigned from the U.S. House in March, couldn't be reached for comment Thursday.
