Des Plaines Woman Killed In Hit-And-Run

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police in Des Plaines said a woman whose body was found yesterday morning was the victim of a hit-and-run.

It was just before 4 in the morning when police say a driver saw the body on the north side of Central Road, east of River Road in Des Plaines.

Police identified the victim as 31-year-old Vanessa Colon, of Des Plaines.

Police said they've now determined Colon was hit by an eastbound vehicle on Central.

Finding out who was driving that vehicle will be difficult, said Des Plaines Deputy Police Chief Nick Treantefeles.

"It will be very hard, unless someone comes forward," he said.

Treantefeles said there are no lights in that area, and no crosswalk - just a single lane in each direction of Central.
