Two Charged With Shooting At Police In Englewood
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men have been charged with firing shots at Chicago Police officers during a foot chase Monday night in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.
Rasheen Crenshaw, 19, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a peace officer with a weapon, two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a gang member, according to Chicago Police.
Jeremy Watts, 23, is charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, police said.
Officers heard shots fired in the 6100 block of South Laflin about 9:15 p.m. and saw two men running down the street with objects in their hand, police said.
The officers tried to stop them, and a foot chase ensued, police said. There was an exchange of gunfire, but no one was struck.
An assisting officer suffered minor injuries during the chase, and was treated and released from a hospital, police said.
Watts, of the 5300 block of South Bishop, was expected to appear in bond court Tuesday. Crenshaw, of the 8400 block of South Escanaba, is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
