By The Numbers: These Blackhawks Are No Stranger To Overtime Playoff Games

(CBS) The modern-era Blackhawks headlined by Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane got their playoff start together in 2009, when they advanced to the Western Conference Final before falling to the Red Wings in five games.

Since then, Chicago has won two Stanley Cups -- in 2010 and 2013 -- and advanced to four more Western Conference Final series. Through their remarkable run, a common thread has surfaced that helps explain all the Blackhawks' postseason accomplishments.

In the closest games on the biggest stages, the Blackhawks have often had remarkable success in overtime play. That was on display again Tuesday, when Chicago topped Anaheim, 3-2, in three overtimes to knot their Western Conference Final series at 1-1.

Since 2009, the Blackhawks are 21-12 in playoff games that go to overtime, including a sparkling 6-1 mark in games that go to at least two overtimes.
