CHICAGO (CBS) -- Family and friends of St. Rita High School student who was shot to death more than six years ago returned to the neighborhood where it happened, passing out flyers hoping to get some leads for police, reports WBBM's Mike Krauser.

She held a picture of her son David at 60th and Springfield near Midway Airport. Someone walked up and shot the 18-year-old on January 8, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. on the quiet, tree-lined street.

"I hope that somebody has it in their heart come forward because it is just that one bit of information," she said. "It could be the smallest bit of information."

She says she comes to the scene every year and today she was joined by a dozen other mothers who lost their children to violence and Fr. Tom McCarthy of St. Rita.

"I knew him well and he was a good young man," Fr. McCarthy said.

"The family needs your help, the police need your help, and we're asking the community now to please step forward," said George McDade of Cook County Crimestoppers.
