Tickets For South Shore Trains To Rise 10-15 Percent
CHICAGO (CBS) -- It'll soon cost more to ride the South Shore commuter train that serves northwest Indiana.
Fares are set to rise 10 percent to 15 percent beginning next month.
The ride from Hammond to Chicago will be six dollars, up from the current $5.25.
The monthly fare from East Chicago and Hammond will increase to $178.50, up from $155.25.
From South Bend to Chicago, it goes up from $11.75 to $13 dollars.
The last fare hike on the South Shore line came in 2012.
That was a five-percent increase.
