The Bernstein Brief: Some Questions For Fred Hoiberg

By Dan Bernstein--
CBSChicago.com senior columnist

(CBS) Fred Hoiberg will be introduced as the Bulls' new coach in a 2 p.m. press conference today, one we'll carry live during the Boers and Bernstein show on 670 The Score.

After the assembled media get through with their obsequious welcomes to Chicago, nervous laughter and requests that he "talk about" something, here are a few actual questions we hope get addressed.  If we have a few minutes with him on the air afterward, we'll try to ask whatever hasn't already been answered.

-- Can your offense make use of a point guard and a shooting guard who both seem to need the ball to be effective?  On another level, how will you manage the conflict in their individual games that grew at the end of the season and was an obvious detriment in the playoffs?

-- The Bulls' experiment with two centers on the floor together had mixed results. Can it work better, or at all? How?

-- What have you discussed with Gar Forman and John Paxson about making sure the Bulls use the regular season to have the team as prepared and healthy as possible for the playoffs?

-- Will you be hiring an assistant to coordinate defense, as that hasn't been your specialty?  If so, who?

-- Can Doug McDermott play? What's the best way to accelerate his development, if it's going to happen?

-- Do you expect to have any say in personnel matters, heading into this draft and constructing this year's roster? Is that something you want?

-- How interested are you in the volume of analytic data available now? Are you open to increasing the team's use of SportVU info and metrics for both scouting and self-diagnostic purposes?

-- Will you please not try to dance publicly again, ever?
