Florida Residents Busted In Aurora With More Than 700 Fake Credit, Gift Cards

 (STMW) -- Police arrested six Florida residents and found more than 700 phony credit and gifts cards in their hotel rooms after a traffic stop Monday in west suburban Aurora.

About 2:50 p.m., Kane County sheriff's deputies stopped a Dodge Journey on Orchard Road near Sullivan Road in Aurora, the sheriff's office said in a statement.

The driver, Yuskel Ruiz-Lorenzo, did not have a valid driver's license, and police found fake Ohio driver's licenses for him and a passenger, the statement said.

Deputies also found some fake credit and pre-paid gift cards in the vehicle, then searched their nearby hotel rooms at the Hampton Inn, where they found 200 more fake cards, the statement said.

Ruiz-Lorenzo, 30, of Homestead, Fla.; and Dairon Ferrerr-Marquez, 25, of Miami, were both arrested, authorities said.

Later that day, deputies stopped another car thought to be involved and found four other people with more fake credit and gift cards, police said.

They found the vehicle in the parking lot of the Comfort Suites at 111 N. Broadway in Aurora, and searched two rooms inside, where they found anther 500 fake cards, police said.

Those four people were also arrested, police said—Mercedes Gregorio-Morffy, 43, of Hialeah Gardens, Fla.; Luis Jimenez-Gonzalez, 25, of Opa Locka, Fla.; Yaniris Alfonso, 29, of Miami; and Ranset Rodriguez-Martinez, 37, of Miami.

All six are charged with felony counts of possessing counterfeit credit or debit cards; and altering a credit or debit card, police said. Ruiz-Lorenzo and Ferrerr-Marquez were also charged with a possessing fraudulent ID with intent to commit another violation of the law.
